How to... J!
| Extensions Not-Joomla HelpDesk |
|
If you are contemplating more than one Joomla! site and also selling products, you might want to think about a Help Desk right now. There are Joomla! solutions in the way of extensions, however I've not been satisfied with anything to date in the GPL category. Rather than waste any more Joomla! extensions assessment time, I headed off to Fantastico, had a quick read-up on the offerings and installed OSTicket. A synch, it took less than 30 minutes to install and configure. Another 10 minutes to quickly change the header graphic (identity) as a minimum of customization to get started. (read on to see how to do this...) The next step is to spend some time one day and style the help desk to the main site appearance.
This step is one of THREE program categories that I recommend as functions of your internet business which are NOTJoomla! extensions. The other two are:
How to Use Joomla : Customizing the OSTicket header graphic to reflect your Joomla! site, or company site name : As with most similar tasks, just go to your installed OSTicket index page on the front end (http://www.yourdomain.com/helpdesk -where ever you set it up) and opposite click in MS Windows on the top left header graphic, and save it to your desktop. Then depending on your browser, choose "properties" or similar for the same image and note the path where it can be found on your remote server. Then make an image with the **same image dimensions inserting your help desk name as a minimum. Keep the file you downloaded open in the same graphics program, so you can match the size of your text, and perhaps the color, until you can properly style the whole application. Output your new image as the same file type as the one you downloaded/have open, and FTP it up to the location you have already noted. Overwrite the old one, go to the front end again, refresh and appraise the finished item. N.B : If you can't see your new image, you either output it as a different file type, or you have overwritten the wrong image. Opposite click on "properties" (or similar) and closely note a/ the path, b/ the image name, c/ the file type... and try the process again.
